The Next Wave.

My eldest son is always explaining to me how he can code what I do to lighten the admittedly heavy load of my newer business.

Some of us though, read me, remember rotary dial phones and changing the channel on a home television set by rising out of one’s seat. Some of us, again me, recall AOL’s infamous connection sound, instant messenger, and myspace.

Some of us, also yours truly, saw the transformation of the internet from business sideline to business driver. I might read the headline news in 1995; I might write blog posts of my own news in 2023.

The next wave is AI. And all the personal code my son strives to teach me.

I have used ChatGPT to write copy.

Outside of this blog post, I have published neither, because I question the ethical appropriateness of passing off machine tools as personal thought process.

Whose work product is it? How much is the work likely to become less time consuming, and conventionally “cheaper” ? Can I automate cover letter writing? Summarize depositions? Does this tech lead us further down a path of rendering individuals obsolete?

Bots naturally respond to the legal queries you pose; Some modeled by https://www.thomsonreuters.com/en.html help hone in on arguments though, for now, they lack the nuance of a well-crafted brief.
