Why Practice Law?

A phone call just now, courtesy of Sir google-a-lot. A PC (that’s prospective client), after not even identifying herself by name, immediately asked me “What do you charge to do X?” - my response was, as it always is, to explain the parameters of the task, words interrupted not less than 3 sentences into that explanation with the exclamation “But, I do not want to pay for THAT”.

Prospective and never to be client, do you know where and how to look for answers to your questions?

I perform tasks in a manner that is reflective of my training, expertise and commitment to a job well done.

I am bound by the legalities of lawyering to always do what needs to be done.

You, PC, are part of a wider tendency to treat attorneys as something other than crafts persons and tactical masters. And, to substitute your own judgment for mine.

Good luck with that there. Not here, and not with me.
